Before making money, it’s important to understand how not to lose money.

  1. Read Common Risks in Trading.
  2. Review Common Mistakes of Beginners.

💡 Even if some points are unclear right now, that’s fine. The main goal is to read them at least once to get familiar with the terminology. You can always come back to the material later.

Before creating a bot, you need:

  • An account on a supported exchange,
  • Verified identity (KYC),
  • Deposited funds.

📌 Step-by-step guides:

Go to your Veles account and complete the challenges to receive 5 USDT for launching your first bot.

Upon completion of the Challenges you will:

4. Get Your First Bot, run a simulation and start it

Section titled “4. Get Your First Bot, run a simulation and start it”

Once the exchange is linked, choose a ready-made bot:

For beginners, we recommend spot bots or futures bots, reconfigured for spot trading.

Why? 📌 Spot trading has no liquidation risk — it’s safer when starting out.

A backtest will show:

  • Minimum required deposit,
  • Estimated profitability,
  • Potential drawdowns,
  • Deals that take too long to close, and a lot of other information.

For futures, also determine the Maximum Adverse Excursion (MAE) over a long period using a backtest - this is the basis for calculating the required maintenance margin.
The assessment method is described in this article.

Once the first bot has been successfully launched:

  1. Check the bot’s status on the bot card.
  2. Wait until the first deal is opened and monitor its’ progress on the active deal card.
  3. If the bot stops due to an error, read the description in the article about errors.
  4. Familiarize yourself with trade management options in advance, in case the deal does not go as planned.

📌 Useful resources:

Once your first bot is generating profit:

  1. Clone it for another coin.
  2. Test new settings.
  3. Determine a safe balance for running multiple strategies on a single trading account.
