Minimum Amounts to Start
A bot operates using two separate, independent wallets.
First wallet — funds on your exchange account that the bot trades with. The bot connects to your exchange account via an API key, which is saved in a Binding in your Veles profile (learn more). Veles cannot withdraw funds from the exchange — it can only place orders. The balance of this account is topped up through your exchange interface (by transferring from an external wallet or purchasing cryptocurrency on the exchange).
Second wallet — your Veles service account for paying fees and subscriptions, located in your personal dashboard. It is funded separately from the exchange account. If the service wallet balance reaches zero, bots will finish their open trades but will not enter new ones.
Minimum Deposit to Start a Bot
Section titled “Minimum Deposit to Start a Bot”Deposit — the amount allocated to the bot for trading. It must be on the trading account the bot is connected to and less than your total balance on the exchange.
The minimum order size depends on the exchange’s rules and the specific asset. For example, when trading BTC on spot, both of these conditions may apply:
- Minimum API order — 5 USDT
- Minimum contract — 0.001 BTC (at current prices ~130 USDT)
The exchange publishes these limits in its “Trading Rules” section.
Market Examples
Section titled “Market Examples”- Futures — you can start with as little as 1 USDT deposit, but you must keep a margin reserve on the account several times greater than the deposit; otherwise, liquidation may occur even with small price movements.
- Spot — you can launch a grid bot from 30 USDT, and a single-order bot with even smaller amounts.
How to Avoid the “Insufficient Order Volume” Error
Section titled “How to Avoid the “Insufficient Order Volume” Error”The bot’s deposit is multiplied by leverage (on spot, leverage = 1), divided across grid orders, and then across multi-takes. Each multi-take must be greater than the exchange’s minimum order size.
If the bot gives an error, possible solutions include:
- Choose a coin with lower volume requirements (avoid BTC/ETH/BNB/SOL)
- Reduce the number of grid orders
- Lower the Martingale %
- Reduce the number of multi-takes
- Increase the deposit
